The Government' euro introduction timetable is still unknown
Synopsis:
The professional and political dividing lines have not changed. Though there is a quasi-consensus regarding economic advantages of the euro, the Government's agenda is pending (the MNB keeps an eye on it).
Opinion:
István Fekete - SB-Chairman of the Joint Venture Association:
"Best thing is: wait & see, at least until 2005. Its difficult to assess, what effect the EU accession is having on the factors of the Maastricht criteria, on top of it, latter may even be softened in the meantime. While watching the Maastricht criteria, we must keep an eye on stability and calculability. Private view: preference for the faster solution.
